wilbur's at it again!

last night we had dinner with some friends. two girls i went to high school with, their husbands, and one of the couples two children. it was the first time for the couple with children to meet our children. so, the kids were all meeting for the first time too. they were a little shy at first, which is to be expected. but wilbur got to checking out their three year old daughter pretty quickly. he would move in close to her face and smile. she would move away. he would touch the arm of her sweater, and she’d pull away a little. he reached in to feel her hair and excitedly said, “your hair is so comfy i could take a nap on it.”

merry Christmas

it’s been so long! more than half a year since i have written on here! i have to be honest, at the end of the day, or any moment of free time i have during the day, i find myself wanting to just rest on my bed by myself. even if it’s just for four minutes. this parenting thing is not easy! i am tired, most of the time.

while writing our 2nd annual Christmas letter this year, i was reminded of how far we have come since last Christmas. at the end of last november, amelia had been diagnosed with epilepsy. Christmas eve we were up 3 or 4 times with her. she had a few small seizures in her sleep and wet her bed everytime and woke up crying. this year, she hasn’t had a seizure since january. praise God! we do believe it is a miracle, even though she is on medication, God is making it work! and she believes it is a miracle too. any time it comes up, she’ll tell you, Jesus made a miracle in her. and we think He did in more ways then one.

amelia is in kindergarten now and doing so well. she is just loving it! she’s learning so much and retaining it so well. we are so proud of her! she is in a dance class too, and loving that too. she had her first recital a couple of weeks ago. even though her class only danced to one song, it was really cute and i can’t wait to show her when she’s older. i see dancing in her future so her first recital will be sure to amuse her someday.

wilbur is in preschool now. yes, that means mommy gets about 2 hours, three days a week to herself. well, orville is napping during that time so he’s around, but i don’t have to do anything for him since he’s sleeping! wilbur is loving school, though he’s a little shy there. and he loves that he’s getting bigger. he really wants to be tall like daddy and gramps!

orville is doing great! he’s potty trained now, except we get him up 2-3 times a night to have him go. he still is really good at going while he’s asleep and not waking up. and since we don’t want to wash his sheets everyday, we set our alarm! starting in january, orville will be attending a preschool one day a week. and then in the fall, he and wilbur will be at the same preschool, three days a week. mommy will really have free time then! maybe i’ll blog more. no, i’ll probably sleep!

josh and i are well too, just tired! and as a family, i’d say we’re all doing well. the kids bicker, i yell, etc. i think i’d categorize us as normal. and, we look good together too. here’s our Christmas picture from this year. haven’t the kids grown a ton!
Christmas 07

maybe now that i’ve finally blogged again, i’ll keep at it a little more. maybe. i guess we’ll have to wait and see. but please, don’t hold your breath!
