i don’t want to be the only one in there

sis likes to spend the night at grammy and gramps’ all by herself.  the boys usually go together.  lately, wilbur has been wanting to go alone.  tonight, he did just that.

earlier today when we told him grammy invited him to sleepover, orville said, “but i will have to sleep by myself. i don’t want to be the only one in there.”  he’s never slept alone.

in their foster home, they all shared a room.  in our home, the boys have always shared a room.  orville doesn’t want to the only one in his room.  he doesn’t want to be in there alone.

he was on the verge of tears when i suggested sis could sleep in wilbur’s bed.  he asked her and she said yes.  she was excited because the boys just got new loft beds and this was her chance to sleep in one for the night.  and, she thinks orville is just the cutest thing in the world!

foster care prayer vigil-day 7

the children~
pray for the hundreds of thousands of young adults in our country who have “aged out” of the child welfare system, that they might still find a Christian family to forever call theirs, that they might find mentors to help them navigate life wisely, and that they would come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

the families~
pray that foster families would have the ability to see these children as they see their biological children – as gifts from God that deserve to be cared for in the best way possible.

the workers~
pray that God would raise up laborers to fill every void: judges, attorneys, guardians ad litem, social workers, court appointed special advocates (CASA), support staff, therapists, and others.

foster care prayer vigil-day 5

the children~
pray that God would heal the deep hurts these children have experienced and protect them from future harm.

the families~
pray that potential adoptive families will step forward and not grow discouraged while waiting to become qualified to adopt children in our state.

the workers~
pray that God would provide the environment necessary for our state’s social workers to do their jobs to the best of their abilities, and that lawmakers would continue to provide the funds necessary for the system to operate effectively and in a way that is best for the children.
