• our first night

it’s hard to come up with titles for these things.  that’s my first thought. i’m sitting in my dining room eating reese’s peanut butter chips.  josh is getting some work done since he left early so we could pick up the kids together. my house currently looks like this. kind of hard to see i guess, but my counters are covered and my sink and dishwasher are full. this is only a partial view of the living room.  the couch and my desk are a mess too. and this is a view from the hallway into our room. one large cardboard box on the other side of the gate.  one…

  • our last night

it’s come to an end.  we’ve squeezed in as much time as we could last night and today.  our sweet girl is away with school all week so she’s missed out on some of the family fun.  i’m quite sure she’s having a good amount of fun on her own though. last night we looked at a 12 passenger van.  turns out we will actually need one.  we’ve been wondering what would be best for our family-a chevy, a ford, or a nissan.  the chevy and ford are very similar and i did quite a bit of driving a big ford van in my jr. high leader days at church,…

  • after the overnight

things went really well. all six kiddos slept through the night.  the entire night.  josh and i woke up several times.  we both so wanted to the new littles to be comfortable, and apparently they were. we usually have pancakes and eggs on saturday mornings so this one was no different.  everyone ate well and then they were off to playing. video games were a big hit. the 5 year old was having a hard time getting the hang of things.  he was turning his whole body instead of just the steering wheel.  josh tried to help him out. the littlest munchkin loved looking out the front door! and these…

  • urgent care-no joke

last night we were scheduled to have our first overnight visit with the three little kiddos.  saturday while they were here, josh hurt his back picking one of them up.  Sunday it was bothering him, but it wasn’t that bad.  yesterday, he could hardly move. he started the morning just fine, but before he was leaving for work, i needed him to latch a rear-facing car seat for me.  after working on that for a couple of minutes, he was in a great amount of pain. we ended up at urgent care and found he had torn his lower back muscle on the right side. not good for picking up small…

  • remembering

it’s all a little foggy, the details of that day.  it was 7 years ago today.  that explains some of the lack of memory of the day’s events.  but it was also a whirlwind of a day.  an ‘i can’t believe this is happening’ kind of day. they had been with us for 9 1/2 months.  ironic?  they felt like ours from the first moment we heard about them.  but this day, they would legally become ours.  our adoption would be finalized.  we would officially be a family. my sweet friend jennifer always remembers this day, and she always lets me know it was a special day for she and…
